I am very happy to announce the installation of 3 new PCs. They are reserved for public Internet use and feature MS Office 2007 (perfect for homework assignments, resumes, letter writing etc.). They also have 17" monitors that are easy on the eyes.
The new PCs come courtesy of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We hope to add two more by the end of 2009 when additional funding becomes available, bringing our total to 10 public Internet work stations.
I had the Town News here on Tuesday to witness the large crowds that now converge on the Library between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. I'm hoping for a nice article about how public libraries are more necessary than ever now that we have hit economic hard times.

i just want the residents of river edge to be warned about their police dept. DO NOT park your cars the wrong way on the street. the police are driving up and down side streets issuing tickets for parked cars. as if there is nothing better for them to do...maybe they are overstaffed and your taxes are paying them to issue law-abiding citizens tickets. as if they need more of your money. you want to hear the best of it all? my parents who have been river edge residents for 34 years and regularly donate to the police, fire and rescue were harassed by officer lee. they are 68 and 79 years old and my father is home on hospice. my husband took time off from work to take care of my father and drove 2 1/2 hours to do so. officer lee noticed he was parked wrong and ran his plates. they found he had an expired registration.after my mother pleaded with him for leniency due to the hardship we have suffered in the past year, he proceeded to impound the car and insinuated that this 68 year old, church going community member was a liar.such compassion from the public servants we pay to serve and protect us. residents head this warning. my parents nieghbors, just two weeks ago were sited for parking the wrong way. there's your tax dollar at work..nothing like sticking it to the hard-working middle class guy, just trying to do a good deed by caring for his dying father-in-law. shame on you officer lee and officer wilkinson.
